Vintage trailer restoration is all about returning something old to its former condition. What about taking something new and making it look vintage? Many trailer rebuilds go beyond simply taking trailers back to “original” condition and incorporating modern amenities and features. Having those updates blend (or be hidden) within the walls of an otherwise traditional restoration is an art. We want to share some of these ideas in the next issue. Have you disguised a new TV or fridge with a vintage-looking facade? Have you hidden an AC unit or created additional storage areas or even a toilet room in a creative way, not originally a part of the trailer? Please share your ideas, projects, and how-tos with the VCT Mag for the next issue.
The Aero Flite on the cover has a Slimp wheel dolly which may not be familiar to everyone. I found an ad in a 1940s magazine that shows a Slimp wheel and included it on page 13. Does your trailer have a vintage Slimp wheel-style wheel? Please share what you’ve got with us! I love looking through my collection of vintage literature and also included a couple of old postcards from the period on page 46.
